As true Yorkshiremen, we wanted to play by the rules and get our car for less than £100, that’s not easy, especially when we want to drive 4,500 miles on tarmac and sand. Easy if we want to drive straight to the scrappers.
After much searching, Rally Motors of Allestree, Derby 01332 559901, sourced a truly magnificent motor, which, after a little tinkering (fingers crossed) we’d hope would get to Timbuktu. Lucky for us it came in white, a blank canvass for stickers of sponsors and charities. Some kind soul absolved all parental responsibility and ownership of an R registered Renault Scenic, turbo diesel motor, It has air conditioning and plenty of headroom (?) with two sunroofs and enough room to store several gifts for needy children yet comfortably transport two blokes 4500 miles. Our car has had a new box of cogs expertly fitted in a very timely fashion.
An update for the car – The kind current owners are still using the car, so that’s a good sign that it still works!
Hopefully they are dropping the car off at Rally Motors on Thursday 25/10/07
Will update the page when that happens…

Good luck with your quest – I am a bit jealous – would love to try it next year.
Did you manage to actually find a car that was under £100?
Nice one.
Them Fords go on forever (you hope)..
Good luck – and looking forward to the pictures..
